Dominican Government Commits RD$50 Million to Local Infrastructure

SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic – The administration of President Luis Abinader has committed over 50 million Dominican pesos (RD$50 million) to advance infrastructure and renovation projects within the Licey al Medio municipality and the Las Palomas district.

The funds were officially authorized during a ceremony led by Administrative Minister Andrés Bautista García and Governor Rosa Santos, where official certifications were presented to local authorities.

The Licey al Medio Municipal Council, headed by Mayor Domingo Almonte, received RD$24.6 million. Of this, RD$12.6 million is earmarked for the reconstruction of the municipal palace, and RD$12 million will finance the renovation of the municipal cemetery. These projects aim to bolster institutional capabilities and improve community services.

Meanwhile, the Las Palomas district board, led by Raysa Vásquez, was granted RD$13 million for the construction of a municipal funeral home, addressing a long-standing request from residents.

An additional RD$14 million was allocated to the Foundation for Integral Development of Licey al Medio. This funding will support improvements to the Melvin Paulino (Don Pollo) baseball field, the children's court, and a communal area, providing enhanced spaces for sports and family activities.
