SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education recently showcased the technical and artistic talents of secondary school students during its "Ruta del Arte" (Art Route) exhibition in San Francisco de Macorís. Led by Minister Luis Miguel De Camps, the event gathered dozens of students from Regionales 07 and 16 at the Villa Olímpica park, focusing on vocational arts training.

The exhibition commenced with displays of visual arts and artisanal creations. Participating schools, including Julián Javier, Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez, Monseñor Francisco Panal, Juan Sánchez Ramírez, Padre Fantino Falcó, and Ramón Agustín Corcino, presented works crafted from ceramic, metal, and wood, alongside paintings and audiovisual pieces.

Gerson Navarro, director of the Arts Modality program, emphasized that these initiatives highlight students' creative potential and underscore the significant impact of artistic programs on their comprehensive development. He also acknowledged the dedication of educators and the importance of continuously fostering opportunities that bring art closer to the community.

Yanilka Romero Santos, a student from Julián Javier high school, described her participation in the "Ruta del Arte" as an enriching experience. She noted that it allowed her to share her learning, appreciate the work of her peers, and feel inspired to further refine her skills.

The event's performing arts segment featured theater groups presenting plays such as "La negra Ester," "El senador," and "Pelusín frutero," demonstrating strong technical mastery and interpretive depth. Concurrently, dance performances explored both traditional and modern rhythms, with pieces like "Cumina," "Si tú te vas," and "Dominicanidad."

The "Ruta del Arte" is part of a broader national program designed to strengthen the connection between schools and communities, providing a platform for students to exhibit the competencies they have gained through the Arts Modality program.

The activity attracted a diverse audience, including families, teachers, community leaders, and representatives from cultural institutions. Attendees engaged in interactive sessions, which included informal workshops, direct interaction with the artworks, and recreational activities prepared by the visual arts students.

The Arts Modality is a secondary-level program offering a technical-artistic baccalaureate for creatively inclined students. It provides specialized training in fields such as visual arts, music, performing arts, and applied arts.

The Ministry of Education highlighted that this program promotes inclusion, strengthens cultural identity, and facilitates entry into the creative industry. It also organizes national galas to present learning outcomes and project student talent.
